Field Settings

When configuring a File Attachment field, you’ll have the following options:

  • Field Name: Assign a meaningful name for the field (e.g., “Contract File” or “Invoice Upload”).

  • Show in Table Home: Toggle this option if you want the field to appear in the main table view.

  • Field Required: If toggled, this ensures a file must be uploaded before saving the record.

  • Helper Text: Add descriptive text to guide users when interacting with the field.

Using the File Attachment Field

  • Uploading Files:

    • On the form, click the Upload File option to select and attach files to your record.

    • Alternatively, drag and drop files directly into the form to upload them effortlessly.

    • File names will appear as clickable links in the record view.

  • Viewing Files:

    • Click the file name to preview it in a modal window.

    The modal includes options to:

    • Download the file.

    • View it in full-screen mode.

  • Managing Files:

    • Users can replace or delete uploaded files directly from the record view.

Best Practices

  • Use the Helper Text option to provide clarity on what type of files should be uploaded (e.g., “Upload PDF contracts only”).

  • Ensure files are appropriately named before uploading to maintain organization.

  • Set the Field Required toggle for mandatory file uploads during workflows like contract approvals or project submissions.

By utilizing the File Attachment field type, you can ensure efficient file management across your Buildaible applications. With centralized access and seamless workflows, managing files has never been easier!
